F4V is similar to the FLV format and is an open container format for delivering synchronized audio and video streams. F4V builds on the open standard ISO/IEC 14496-12:2008 (MPEG-4 Part 12) ISO base media file format. It supports the recent H.264/AAC encoded content standard. Microsoft’s DirectShow is an architecture for streaming media on the Microsoft Windows. DirectShow enables high-quality capture and playback of multimedia streams. Support for a wide range of formats is available. ASF, MPEG, AVI, MP3, and WAV sound files. DirectShow components provide the capability to detect the presence of video and audio acceleration hardware. Your end user application thus could include this hardware assisted acceleration if available. DirectShow is designed for C++. Media playback, format conversion, and capture tasks are simplified by the use of the DirectShow components.
For example, you could integrate the components to develop applications like file players, TV and DVD players, video-editing applications, file format converters, audio-video capture applications, encoders and decoders, digital signal processors, and others. Anything that you need to share could be encoded in F4V and shared on sharing sites. You would be able to pass on video frame rate, video bitrate, etc. by the users through your application. Similar tweaking is possible with parameters like video frame size, support of HD resolution, audio bitrate, audio channels and sample rate, etc. this component could be integrated into applications written in C++, C#, VB, VB.NET, Delphi, etc. that supports DirectShow. This is compatible with Windows. This is a good tool.
